Curtis points out that aside from the air conditioning, the sealed cab protects the operator from insects and dust. That last one might sound trivial, but as someone who puts in a lot of hours mowing, I'll say the dust can be horrific. If I did it for a living and all day, I'd much rather spend the extra money, and not finish each session drenched in sweat, covered in lawn debris and having coughing fits.
